In-8; etching on title page. Limited edition of 129 copies.
Contemporary blue chagrin, ornate ribbed spine, wide lace trim, filleted edges, fine inner lace, publisher's blue cover preserved, gilt edges.
Second edition, all the more sought-after as only three copies of the first were printed in Biarritz in 1866.
The story is dedicated to the Empress Eugenie, named after a peak in the Atlantic Pyrenees (La Rhune) where the author had taken an excursion with the imperial court.
