Xavier de CARDAILLAC was born in Vic-Bigorre in 1858. A lawyer, journalist and lecturer, he was heavily involved in parochial politics. After the 1914 war, he retired to Magescq, where he died in 1930.
"The first 219 pages (the BnF gives it as 156pp.) had already been printed in Bordeaux in 1835, but only 80 copies were printed...". None of these editions is mentioned by Labadie or Barbe (Bilbao II, 74).
