Bordeaux, Teycheney, Laloubère, Dulac, 1836. In-8: 2f., 362pp; freckles in places. ½ calf bronze, gilt title and fillets on smooth spine, blue edges. * VINSON (Julien): Les Basques et le Pays basque, moeurs, langage et histoire. Paris, Cerf, 1882. In-16: 148pp (including VIII and frontispiece included in pagination), (1). Numerous illustrations in the text. One of only a few copies on Chine. ½ off-white cloth with corners à la Bradel, black title-piece on spine. First edition reprinted identically in 1883. Uncommon. The artist, who is indicated only by the signatures on the drawings. * CARDAILLAC (François Xavier Gabriel de) : Promenades Artistiques. Fontarabie. Illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings by Sylvain LESTRADE, with a letter-preface by Pierre LOTI. Bordeaux, Gounouilhou, 1896. Small in-8: VIII, 296pp; illustrations in the text. Some full-page. ½ brown chagrin, gilt title on spine. Printed Goyetche bookplate. Xavier de CARDAILLAC was born in Vic-Bigorre in 1858. A lawyer, journalist and lecturer, he was heavily involved in parochial politics. After the 1914 war, he retired to Magescq, where he died in 1930. "The first 219 pages (the BnF gives it as 156pp.) had already been printed in Bordeaux in 1835, but only 80 copies were printed...". None of these editions is mentioned by Labadie or Barbe (Bilbao II, 74).
