TOULOUSE SCHOOL OF THE 1930S "Célébration du cent cinquantenaire de la Révolution française 1889-1939, probable travail de commande et pièce unique". Elegant Macassar ebony veneered games table. The entablature opens with a flap revealing an interior housing a flying chessboard in precious wood marquetry, and two deep drawers holding the 32 turned and carved chess pieces. The recessed top is decorated with the symbols of the French Revolution and the double date 1889-1939 in marquetry of different light woods. Sabre-style legs with light wood veneer sabots. Presence of a key monogrammed A.A. possibly not original. Height: 66 cm - Length: 81 cm - Width: 51 cm The two drawer handles are missing, possibly removed when the cabinet was created.
