BELL-SHAPED CRATER
the A side of which features a scene depicting a young man holding a thyrse, seated opposite a richly adorned young woman holding a crown, a dish and a satyr carrying a situla and a tympanon. Side B features two ephebes draped in their himation and in conversation. Large palmettes and scrolls under the handles. Greek frieze below the scenes and olive leaves above. Black-glazed beige clay with white paint highlights.
Greek art, Apulia, circa 350 B.C.
Height: 37 cm.
(Broken foot, otherwise very well preserved).
