Roland furieux (Orlando furioso) is an epic poem in Italian written by Ludovico Ariosto (known as l'Ariosto) in the early 16th century. It is considered the last novel of chivalry, condensing all the qualities of the genre. Ariosto's text, on the other hand, is squarely in the realm of the imaginary and the prodigious: journey to the Moon, the Underworld and Paradise, where Astolphe meets the apostle John accompanied by Enoch and Elijah, ride of the Hippogriff, etc. Fine edition translated by de Rosset.
