DUPLESSIS-MORNAY (Philippe de) Mémoires de Messire de Mornay, seigneur du Plessis Marli contenans divers discourses, instructions, lettres et dépesches par lui dressées ou escrites aux Roys, Roynes, princes, princesses, seigneurs, & plusieurs grands personnages de la Chrestienté, depuis l'an MDLXXII, iusques à l'an MDLXXXIX. Slne, 1624. In-4: 8pp, 687pp, 8f (table); illustrated with a portrait on laid paper printed and added later. Marginal light staining on a few leaves. Contemporary red morocco, spine ribbed and ornamented, accident to the head box (clumsy restoration), gilt fillet framing the boards. The period covered runs from 1572, the year of the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre, to 1589, and the work is a precious testimony to the context of the Wars of Religion.
