Louis Lemery was the son of the famous chemist Nicolas Lemery.

Contemporary marbled fawn basane, ornate ribbed spine, red title-piece, cold fillet framing the boards, rubbing and minor spotting, gilt fillet on the edges, marbled edges.
Famous work on distillation. The work is a complete treatise on distillation, with detailed descriptions of the various processes for preparing distillates, filtering liqueurs and fermenting. The recipes are numerous: eau de vie, wine alcohol, fruit liqueurs, flowers and spices, orange blossom and various other flowers, ways of coloring liqueurs, aromatic plants, quintessences, eau d'or, d'argent, coffee, chocolate, ratafia, oils, syrups and infusions.
