A total of 9 frontispieces and 197 out-of-text plates, most of them folding. Spotting, dampstaining. Contemporary marbled fawn basane, red title-pieces, smooth spines, accident to head-cap, 2 split jaws (volume 6), rubbing and wear, marbled edges. Pluche conceived the idea for this work when he was explaining the elements of physics to the young Strafford. He develops the main phenomena of physics, natural history and technology, as well as the history of man according to the scriptures.
