4 volumes in-4: frontispiece portrait (COCHIN, engraved by de Launay), 4 plates (Moreau Le Jeune, engraved by de Launay, Delignon and Simonet) and an atlas in-4 by Rigobert BONNE: 2f., 28pp.; illustrated complete with 50 maps (numbered 1-49 and 17 bis); a few incorrectly numbered maps and 22 tables of statistics in fine, most of them folding. Scattered foxing, leaves lightly browned in places (text). Wet stamps "Bibliothèque populaire de Bordeaux".
Contemporary marbled fawn basane, ornate spine, 2 damaged headpieces, one torn off, small bumps to 2 others, rubbing and spotting, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, corners very dull, marbled edges.
Contemporary marbled brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, tulip fleurons between boxes, headpieces damaged, jaws cracked at the starters, cold fillet framing the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges, corners dull, marbled edges (atlas).
The large edition of Raynal: illustrated with a portrait by Cochin, 4 figures by Moreau engraved by De Launay, Delignon and Simonet and 23 hors-texte tables, 12 of which are folding.
The atlas includes 50 engraved maps, including a fold-out map of both hemispheres, and 49 on double-page spreads by M. Bonne, Ingénieur-hydrographe de la Marine.
