In-4: 8f, 134pp (numerous antique inscriptions presented in engraved columns, medals and some twenty vignettes in the text) - 144pp (numerous medals, sculptures and inscriptions in the text and an out-of-text plate and a large antique folding map of Auvergne titled "Descriptio A limaniae Arvernorum", detached from the text, with paper reinforcement bands on the spine) - 4f, 146pp, (1) (a portrait). Rubbed granulated basane, spine ribbed, leather missing from boards and spine, pronounced rubbing, red edges. Cover very worn, but binding solid. Reunion of 3 texts on medals. Concerning illustrious antique observations: "This admirably printed work is adorned with 51 woodcuts reproducing inscriptions, antique steles, medals, statues - some of the vignettes by B. Salomon are of great merit. Salomon are of great merit. The ingenuity of the layout is quite remarkable". Description de la Limagne d'Auvergne is an important work on the study of the antiquities of Auvergne and Velay, in particular the site of the battle of Gergovie. The first French translation by Antoine Chappuis, it features a large fold-out map.
