London (Paris), 1734. 16 volumes in-4: approx. 700 pages per volume; frontispiece portrait in medallion by Petit, 2 plates out of text (volumes XIV and XV)(text not collated). Contemporary marbled fawn calf, ornate ribbed spine, red title-pieces, accidents to some headpieces, triple cold fillet framing the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges, dull corners, slight rubbing, minor defects, red edges. The first and most sought-after French edition of this esteemed work, considered one of the best histories of the Wars of Religion (Brunet V 841).
