Passages over the Pyrenees, Béarn and Spain CORDAY (Aglaé de) Les fleurs neustriennes poésies et la sorcière de Laredo. Mortagne, Loncin et Daupeley, 1855-57. 2 volumes in-8; illustrated with 22 plates hors texte (including 2 frontispieces). The author has corrected in his own hand certain titles and captions of illustrations and has replaced in volume I verses deleted by the censor (p. 377-378-379). Correspondence from the author to Mr. Charles de Chénedollé. ½ green morocco with filleted corners signed STROOBANTS, lightened ornate ribbed spine, publisher's covers preserved. Aglaé de Corday, poet, was related to Charlotte de Corday by her husband, Mme de Corday (née de Postel); her friend and teacher was Ancelot, of the Académie Française. Some of the poems deal with the Pyrenees (Un soir d'orage dans les Pyrénées à Monsieur Alfred de Guyon - Au bord du Gave - Souvenir du Béarn - Rêverie dans la montagne (Eaux-Chaudes) - Chansonnette imitée des poésies béarnaises - Courses dans les Pyrénées), the Alps and Spain (including Guipuscoa). Provenance: From the library of Charles de Chénedollé, then of Victor Mercier (with his bookplate bearing the motto "Librorum flos illibatus").
