DUMÈGE de la HAYE (Alexandre Louis Charles André) chevalier Statistique générale des départements pyrénéens, ou des provinces de Guienne et de Languedoc. Paris, Treuttel et Wurtz, 1828-29. 2 volumes in-8: XXII, 400pp. / 1f. title, 580pp. ; one engraved folding map (in fine of volume II). Minor spotting in places. ½ period fawn basane, ornate smooth spines, one cap slightly stretched at head, slight rubbing, marbled edges. Printed in Toulouse by Bellegarrigue, volume 2 did not actually appear until 1830. This former military engineer was born in La Haye around 1790; from the age of 20, he traveled the Pyrenees in search of tumuli and other antiquities. He was director of the Toulouse museums and a member of several societies. DUMÈGE was the author of an interesting "Archéologie Pyrénéenne" (1858-63).
