DUSAULX (Jean Joseph) Voyage à Barège et dans les Hautes Pyrénées fait en 1788. Paris, Didot jeune, 1796. 2 volumes in-8: 347pp / 2f, 211pp, (2 table leaves with pagination53-56), 52pp (Translation by Juvenal). Contemporary fawn rootskin calf, ornate smooth spines, red title-pieces, black tomaisons, fine garland framing the boards, small leather losses and small epidermis on the boards, gilt roulette on the edges, marbled edges. Dusaulx knew many personalities such as J. J. Rousseau, whose influence he underwent; his "Voyage à Barèges" is written in the style of the "Nouvelle Héloïse". He was imprisoned in the Ort-Libre prison, from which he was rescued by Marat, who passed him off as an old man (Labarère 525). Provenance: Copy from the library of Alexandre-Marie-François de Paule de Dompierre d'Hornoy, son of Nicolas-Joseph and Marie-Élisabeth Mignot, niece of Voltaire, with his wet stamp on the false title page.
