In-8; one large folding map. ½ contemporary fawn calf, spine ribbed, gilt fillets, fawn title and author pieces. pp. 120-197 are occupied by "Considérations Géognostiques sur les Pyrénées relative à la Thermalisation", the map is by Chevalier Armand Julien PALLIÈRE "Capitaine du Génie au Service de sa Majesté Don Pedro", also an excellent draughtsman. Marchant was born in Aiguillon in 1793. A disciple of Hahnemann, he was one of the first homeopathic physicians in Bordeaux, where he practiced. In 1846, he published "Documents pour servir à l'étude de la Pellagre des Landes". It is said that he spent his free time and his fortune perfecting railway brakes! (Labarère 978).
