In-12; one folding map in each volume. Brown stain at beginning of second volume. ½ bronze chagrin, smooth spine decorated. - BOURDON (Isidore): Guide aux eaux minérales de la France et de l'Allemagne. Paris, Baillière, 1834. In-12. ½ contemporary red calf with corners, smooth spine decorated with rocaille irons, black title page. Provenance: ex-libris of Pierre Alicot. - LEMONNIER (Louis Céran): Bagnères de Bigorre sous le rapport médical et topographique et les autres établisssements thermaux des Pyrénées. Bagnères, Dossun ; Paris, Baillère, 1841. In-8; 2 folding tables, one folding map and 5 lithographed plates, all out of text. In-8. ½ plum contemporary chagrin, smooth spine decorated with rocaille irons. - MARCHANT (Léon): Recherches sur l'Action Thérapeutique des Eaux Minérales, with a Thermal Map of the Pyrenees. Paris, Baillière, 1832. In-8; one large folding map. ½ contemporary fawn calf, spine ribbed, gilt fillets, fawn title and author pieces. pp. 120-197 are occupied by "Considérations Géognostiques sur les Pyrénées relative à la Thermalisation", the map is by Chevalier Armand Julien PALLIÈRE "Capitaine du Génie au Service de sa Majesté Don Pedro", also an excellent draughtsman. Marchant was born in Aiguillon in 1793. A disciple of Hahnemann, he was one of the first homeopathic physicians in Bordeaux, where he practiced. In 1846, he published "Documents pour servir à l'étude de la Pellagre des Landes". It is said that he spent his free time and his fortune perfecting railway brakes! (Labarère 978).
