[FORS de BÉARN] - Lot 148
[FORS de BÉARN]
Reunion of 4 volumes: - Compilation d'Auguns Priviledgis et Reglamens deu Pays de Bearn feyts et octroyats a l'intercession deus Estats ab los serments de fidelitat deus Seignours a soas Subiects, & per reciproque deus subiects a loor seignour. Lescar, de la Place, 1633.
Small in-4. Eighteenth-century fawn basane, ornate smooth spine, red title page, small leather loss on second board, gilt fillet on edges, red edges.
Laplace printed only 2 works, and this is the first. Collation in accordance with Lacaze, notably the pagination error on pp. 300 ff. First edition. There is a variant in the title: the presence of Jacques Rouyer alongside La Place as publisher. The copy reported by Soulice is incomplete.
- PARCADE (Denis): Faculté de Droit de Paris. Droit Romain. De capitis deminutione media. Étude historique sur les anciens fors de Béarn. Doctoral thesis. Paris, Rousseau, 1895.
In-8. ½ contemporary brown chagrin, gilt title on spine.
Rare, as are most theses. Only the second part concerns the Béarn region.
- BRISSAUD (J.) - ROGÉ (P.): Textes additionnels aux anciens fors de Béarn. Toulouse, Privat, 1905.
Contemporary ½ brown chagrin, gilt title on spine.
Provenance: Ex-libris of the Yves Cazaux library.
- MAZURE (P. Adolphe) - HATOULET (Jean Auguste) : Fors de Béarn, Législation Inédite du 11me au 13me siècle, avec traduction en regard, Notes et Introduction. Pau, Vignancour ; Paris, Bellin-Mandar, Joubert, sd. (1841).
In-4. ½ burgundy filleted chagrin, gilt head.
Essential for anyone interested in the history of the Pyrenees.
