Translated from the English on the third edition by Mme Louise Sw. BELLOC. Paris, Renouard, 1825. 3 volumes in-12: 2f., LXI, 175pp. / 2f., 176pp. / 2f., 292pp. ½ period fawn chagrin, ornate ribbed spine, marbled edges. Uncommon. Béarn, Vendée, Périgord and Landes against a backdrop of historical bluettes. Grattan visited the Pyrenees in the early 1820s. He wrote 2 novels set in the Pyrenees: "Caribert the Bear Hunter" and "The Cagot's Hut". Our "High-Ways and By-Ways or tales of the roadside" are from 1823-25 and 27 in 3 series.
