GUIBERT (Jacques Antoine Hippolyte de) general Guibert's travels in various parts of France and Switzerland in 1775, 1778, 1784 and 1785. Posthumous work published by his widow. Paris, d'Hautel, 1806. In-8: 2f., 414pp. (including IV). Contemporary fawn shagreened basane, ornate smooth spine, red title and author labels, small lack at head of cover, one split bit at head, letter P gilt at foot, cold fillet framing the boards, gilt roulette rubbed on the edges, red edges. Pages 270 to 330 concern the Pyrenean region. One section is entitled Parallèle entre les Alpes et les Pyrénées. The BnF catalog states: "The publication has also been attributed to M. de Toulongeon". General Guibert is best known for his military works, which influenced Napoleon.
