After graduating from the Ecole Normale, he taught philosophy, becoming Inspector of the Clermont Academy in 1842 and a member of the Société des Antiquaires de Normandie et des Pays de l'Ouest. In collaboration with HATOULET, he wrote an interesting study on the old Fors de Béarn.
