Elzevier, 1661. Small in-12: 6f., 522pp; false title with equestrian portrait. Nineteenth-century black chagrin signed BISEZ, ornate ribbed spine, gilt lace framing the boards, central figure VC surmounted by a crown and tower, gilt fillet on the edges, inner lace, gilt edges with engraved motif of flowers in lozenges. The first edition is from Paris, Martin, 1661. There are 2 versions published by Elzéviers under this date, one with 522 pp. and the other with 514. The second is a "rather pretty" forgery by Maurry de Rouen.
