In-8: LII, 280pp, 2f. Minor spotting on title page. Very rare copy on Chine, titling unknown from bibliographies,
½ brown chagrin with corners, title and hunting motif (gilt trunk iron) on spine, gilt head.
"An excellent edition that has become rare", says Thiébaud. It was also through this edition that we were able to rediscover this treasure trove of the art of hunting. An edition had appeared shortly before in 1844 by Dryden, but it was only printed in confidential numbers and therefore not intended for the public. Joseph Adrien Félix LAVALLÉE, Marquis de BOISROBERT was the founder of the Journal des Chasseurs and the author of various cynégétique works, including "La Chasse à Tir en France" in 1854 and "La Chasse à Courre en France" published in 1856 (Thiébaud 732).
Provenance: From the libraries of Richard Schwerdt with his printed bookplate and the Count of Beaufort bookplate with the motto "In Bello Fortis".
