Contemporary granite brown calf, spine ribbed and decorated, rubbed, speckled edges, Saint-Amans figure on boards. Provenance: Copy from the Saint-Amans library, acquired by Philippe de Lauzun (mauve wet stamp and pencil note). "It is impossible to make science more amiable and attractive than our traveler did in his Lettres, and to better disguise its aridity, and save the tedium of details and technical nomenclatures". One of the 20 rarest Pyrenean books. This learned naturalist was born in Agen in 1748. Fascinated by his native Lot et Garonne, to which he devoted most of his work, an insatiable curiosity drove him to the Pyrenean heights on his famous "Voyage Sentimental", here in its original edition, tastefully republished in 1979 (Labarère 1404)(Labarère, XX livres pyrénéistes les plus rares, n° XVII).
