Unicum - Lavedan SPALIKOWSKI (Edmond) Le Lavedan pittoresque. Original manuscript without place or date. In-4: 9 sheets in ink, text and ink drawings, some enhanced in color in pencil. Superb publication of great artistic quality, featuring numerous sites and buildings in the Lavedan province. One-of-a-kind copy. Marcel JOVE's booklet L'écrivain régionaliste Edmond Spalinowski et son oeuvre manuscrite illustrée is appended in fine. Argentan, Journal de l'Orne, sd. Booklet in-8, publisher's gray cover. ½ burgundy morocco with Bradel-style filleted corners, gilt title throughout on spine and top board. A fine copy. Essentially Pyrenean and devoted to monuments large and small by an artist. "The author took refuge in Argelès-Gazost during the Second World War. This Ducéré from Normandy (1874-1951), member of the Académie des Sciences, Belles-lettres et Arts de Rouen, in addition to important illustrated publications on Normandy, also produced manuscripts, which he illustrated with talent. Labarère mentions 3 titles relating to the Pyrenees, 2 of which are in the Musée Pyrénéen. He refers to a booklet by M. Jové entitled "l'Ecrivain Régionaliste Edmond Spalikowski et son oeuvre manuscrite illustrée" published in Argentan by Editions du Journal de l'Orne (which is appended to this work). Provenance: Printed bookplate of Dr. Grenier de Cardenal, Bordeaux physician and collector.
