FLAT DESK IN MAHOGANY - Lot 191
FLAT DESK IN MAHOGANY the top and the belt contoured opening to three drawers and resting on cambered feet; beautiful ornamentation of gilded bronzes with openwork falls, sabots and asymmetrical cartouches. (Small restorations). Stamp of Pierre Roussel and JME, cabinetmaker received master in 1745. Louis XV period. H.: 75 cm, W.: 164 cm, D.: 86 cm. Like the famous desk from the former Akram Ojjeh collection (Christie's Monaco sale, December 11-12, 1999, lot 41), this desk belongs to a very small group of Parisian furniture made in mahogany around 1760 (we can also mention a table delivered for Fontainebleau around 1754-1756).
