First edition of this important, lavishly illustrated monograph, largely devoted to 18th-century European coins, originally published for banks and exchange houses. This book was to become an immediate reference work. Fine provenance.
Provenance: Gilded arms of the Orléans family, alternating with the cipher of the Duc d'Orléans Ferdinand Philippe Louis (1810-1842), eldest son of King Louis-Philippe I, who had a brilliant military career before his tragic death on July 13, 1842 in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
