Bordeaux - Single copy - Maroquin signed Pouillet MEAUDRE DE LAPOUYADE (Maurice) La Maison de Bordeaux et les Premiers Captaux de Buch. Bordeaux, Delmas, 1939. In-4; illustrated with black and colored plates, hors texte engravings added. Limited edition of 300 copies (this one unnumbered). A pencil note reads "unique copy - plates added". Copy with 24 additional plates by Léon Drouyn from La Guyenne Militaire (originally entitled "La Guyenne Anglaise"; Léo Drouyn changed the title for patriotic reasons, at the suggestion of Pierre Castéja, mayor of Bordeaux at the time). Black morocco signed POUILLET, smooth spine, gilt title and arms of Meaudre de Lapouyade, gilt fillet framing boards and spine, double gilt fillet on edges, inner fillet, publisher's cover in red and black, gilt head. A superb and rare copy. Unique copy with engravings by Léo Drouyn. Uncommon. This book was also published in the Actes de l'Académie Nationale des Sciences, Belles-Lettres & Arts de Bordeaux (tome XI - 1937-1938). Provenance: copy of Meaudre de Lapouyade, with 2 ex libris printed on the flyleaf and on the spine of the title page, and gilded arms stamped at the foot of the spine.
