Two volumes (volume 6 - 2nd period and volume 18) with wetness and marks of dampness in the first parts of the volumes (boards warped). Numerous metal-engraved or lithographed plates by Félix Bracquemod, P.P. Prudhon, Ad. Appian, Célestin Nanteuil, Ch. Fr. Daubigny, Corot, M. Desboutin, Léon Bonnat, Rich. P. Bonington, Alex. Falguière ½ red chagrin, spine ribbed, gilt heads. Volume XIX with slightly different binding (½ red chagrin, with spine detached). Collaboration of the best art writers, historians and chroniclers. La Gazette des Beaux-Arts was a French journal of art criticism and history, founded in 1859 and disappearing in 2002 after being owned by the Wildenstein family from 1928. For almost one hundred and fifty years, the magazine was a worldwide reference in the field of art history. La Gazette des beaux-arts was founded in January 1859 by journalist Édouard Houssaye (1829-1905), who chose art critic Charles Blanc (1813-1882) as editor-in-chief. The magazine was subtitled "Courrier européen de l'art et de la curiosité". In 1863, it was bought by Émile-Louis Galichon, also an art critic. The magazine was bought by gallery owner Georges Wildenstein in 1928, and passed on to his son Daniel, a gallery owner and art historian, in 1963. The magazine disappeared the year after Daniel Wildenstein's death.
