LARGE CLOCK WITH LOVE LEADING THE BOAT OF TIME in patinated bronze and gilt bronze, decorated with swan necks, crocodile heads and trophies, with a N°36 on the back. Attributed to Claude Galle. Empire period. H: 45 cm, W: 55 cm, D: 15 cm (Accidents, restorations and missing parts, significant wear to the gilding). A similar example, also in patinated bronze and gilded bronze, is listed in a London sale, Sotheby's, June 28, 2023, lot 458. Other examples are made entirely in gilded bronze, and a variant also exists in Nast porcelain (kept at the Mobilier National in Paris and illustrated in M-F. Dupuy-Baylet, Pendules du Mobilier National 1800-1870, Dijon, 2006, p. 49).
